Good morning/ afternoon to everyone! The last day of the year, and we're finishing it off with a weak weather system that will move across the area later this afternoon and evening. We'll see some light snow or snow showers develop and continue tonight. Accumulations of around an inch over the Snyderville Basin, and 1 to 2 inches across the upper parts of the resorts, another weather system will move across the area later on Friday. So, a little snow to freshen the slopes, but probably not nearly as much as the resorts or skiers would like to see! We'll try to bring a little more moisture across the area next Wednesday and Thursday!
Good morning! We should have another nice weather day, then a weak weather system will clip us tomorrow bringing clouds and we could see a couple of snow showers across the upper part of the resorts. Another system is due at the end of the week and it's looking a little better organized bringing a better chance of snow or snow showers. It's not looking like a big system, but even a couple of inches of new snow would help out a lot. I do see some changes in the flow pattern in the 10 to 14 day period, so there's some hope at getting some snow!
Good Sunday morning! Another beautiful day in the mountains!!! We have one system to deal with that will bring some snow showers to the area on Tuesday, but it should be a dry week. There are some changes in the flow pattern coming, and while we don't have a consensus on the models with respect to the evolution of the pattern, we should see a system move across the area next weekend, and the pattern has the potential to evolve into a very unsettled pattern with a number of systems moving across the area!!! Have an awesome Sunday.
Good morning! A little cloudiness moving across the area this morning, but should be pretty much gone by noon, but the air mass will be getting colder, especially this afternoon and tonight. We'll see a break tomorrow and most of Monday, then a chance of snow showers on Tuesday, but this isn't a big snow producing system. There are some changes that will begin to take shape in the atmosphere at the end of next week and the weekend, so potentially colder and snowier!!!!
Good morning! Another absolutely beautiful weather day with plenty of sunshine and mild temperatures. It's 29 degrees this morning up around 9,000 feet! The system off the Pacific Northwest Coast will clip northern Utah tomorrow afternoon and night, but we should remain dry, but it will bring some cooler temperatures. A little stronger system will bring some snow showers Tuesday and early Wednesday and while not a big system, it should freshen the slopes a little. So, for the next week, I don't see any big storms!
Good morning! Hope everyone had an awesome Christmas! As you can see on the satellite image, there's no significant storminess over the West, so we should have another awesome day with lots of sunshine. The system you see off the Pacific Northwest will move across us later Saturday and we could see a couple of snow showers. A second system will move across us later Monday and Tuesday with this system have a little more energy and could bring a better chance of light snow or snow showers. Overall, I don't see any significant storminess over the next 10 days!
Good morning and Happy Christmas Eve! The system we expected to move across the area has come and gone. We had 2 to 3 inches of new snow across the upper portion of the resorts and an inch to maybe 2 inches, but there was some sleet mixed in. We'll see clouds come and go through the day, and if you're headed to the resorts, dress warm as the temperatures will drop into the teens across the upper portion of the resorts with a little northwest wind. The winds will decrease this afternoon and tonight, as high pressure moves into the area through the remainder of the week. I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas, as I'm going to take tomorrow off from the blog. Be safe and have a fun!
Good Monday morning! A lot of clouds over northern Utah this morning and one more weather system to move across the area before high pressure moves in and bring a couple of sunny days, and fair nights from Christmas Day through the end of the week. The system is moving into the Pacific Northwest this morning and will move across northern Utah after midnight through noon tomorrow bringing an inch or maybe two from the Snyderville Basin up into town. So, if you're traveling tonight and tomorrow be careful and then we have some nice weather days!!!
Good morning! Another system is moving across the area bringing more snow. Now, this system is better than anything we saw yesterday, and the system yesterday had more going for it! We have a couple of hours of fairly steady snowfall, and the air mass is moist enough for some snow showers this afternoon and evening. Snow accumulations "should" be in the 1 to 3 inch range, so enough to freshen up the slopes and get some nice turns in at the resorts. We have one more system that will clip us and bring a chance of snow showers on Tuesday, but high pressure will bring several awesome weather days from Christmas through Friday. The high pressure will weaken next weekend allowing a colder air mass and a chance of snow or snow showers from a system dropping southward across us! Enjoy the snow!!
Good morning and welcome to the Winter Solstice, or the first day of winter! As you can see on the radar image below, and as of 8:15 AM, snow is moving southward along the Wasatch Front. We'll see snow develop over the next hour or two and continue through much of the afternoon. I'm going to cut accumulations back to 2 or 3 inches, but a couple of areas could see 4 inches. Another weak system will move across us tomorrow bringing more light snow by late morning and afternoon with an inch or two of accumulation. One more system will clip the area on Tuesday, but any snow will be light. High pressure and nice weather will be with us from Christmas Day on through the end of the week. Some great weather for this time of year!
