Good morning! Happy Halloween to those who celebrate this spooky little event! The low pressure off the West Coast will continue to move slowly eastward today and tomorrow with gusty south winds and warmer temperatures. The winds will be quite strong, especially tomorrow and we'll see an increase in showers tomorrow afternoon and night, then turning cooler tomorrow night and into Sunday with some snow or snow showers. The heaviest amounts will be up above 8500 feet, but a little snow down into the Snyderville Basin later tomorrow night and Sunday. Not sure how much will actually stick to the ground, but we'll see some snow! High pressure will move back into the area by the middle of next week.
Good morning! It's still pretty chilly in the mornings, as it was 22 degrees at my place, but 29 degrees up in town. We're heating up in the afternoons and that will continue through the end of the week. A fairly strong low pressure will be just off the West Coast on Friday, then push into the Great Basin on Saturday and Sunday. I think the front will reach us Saturday afternoon, but the coldest pool of air moves in later Saturday night and Sunday morning. We could see a couple of showers and thunderstorms with that front, but we should see a period of snow with that cool pool of air later Saturday night and Sunday morning. The data I'm looking at would bring 2 to 4 inches of snow to the Snyderville Basin, about the same in town, but closer to the high end and the resorts above 8500 feet will be in the 5 to 10 inch range. I'll keep you posted! Have a great hump day!
Good morning! I had a snow shower at my house this morning at around 4 AM, but mainly just a much cooler air mass over the area. I'm at 30 degrees as I type this, and the air mass will dry more this afternoon and tonight with readings likely between 20 and 25 degrees in the Snyderville Basin and 25 to 30 degrees up in town. We'll slowly warm through the week and we should see plenty of sunshine. The system off the Pacific Northwest Coast will pass mainly north of us, but we could see a little cloudiness. By next weekend, another storm system will move into the area and this one has the potential to be the first significant storm of the season. I'll keep you posted! Have an awesome Monday!
Good morning! We should have another sunny, warm day with some breezy south winds. The cold front is moving onshore over California and will reach us early tomorrow morning. Snow levels will initially be up around 9,000 feet early in the morning, but reaching town level around noon or early afternoon, and down into the Basin after that. We could see an inch or two across the upper portions of the resorts, but not looking like we'll see any accumulation down here in the Snyderville Basin. It'll be a cold start on Monday with readings between 20 and 25 degrees in the area of Pinebrook, Jeremy Ranch and Kimball Junction, but a tad warmer up in Park City. The coming week will be dry with a slow warming trend. Our next system is possible late in the weekend or early next week.
Good morning! We have a couple of really nice weather days, okay, it may be a little breezy at times, but oh so warm! We'll be near 70 in town and upper 60s to near 70 in the Snyderville Basin. There is an area of low pressure well off the California Coast this morning, and this system will push a cold front into the area on Sunday. There should be enough moisture and lift to see some rain and snow showers with the snow level down to the Basin level later Sunday and into early Monday morning. A couple of inches of snow is possible across the upper portion of the resorts, but not really any accumulation down in the Basin. We will have a much colder air mass into the area with morning low temperatures in the 20s early next week. Enjoy the weather over the next couple of days.
Good morning! The cold front is along the West Coast and will move into the area tomorrow. Clouds will increase later this afternoon and tonight with a chance of showers and thunderstorms after midnight and continuing through the morning. We should see temperatures this afternoon once again well into the 60s, then in the upper 50s to near 60 tomorrow. The remainder of the week is looking pretty nice, but the next cold front will move into the area later Saturday night and Sunday, and this one will be colder and would not be surprised to see a little snow falling! Something to look forward too, as the week goes by!
Good morning! Another beautiful morning with clear skies and 31 degrees at my house. We should have another sunny day and temperatures will be well above normal. We hit 70 in Park City yesterday and around 67 across the Snyderville Basin, and today will be very similar. In fact, tomorrow will be close to today, but some clouds increasing in the afternoon, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms on Tuesday with temperatures cooling off. We end the week back to a sunny, warm pattern, BUT and this is a big but, there continues to look like we'll see a shift in the flow pattern next week, and the one model is as soon as Sunday. I'll keep you posted!
Good morning!! The satellite image would suggest something promising with regards to a possible storm system over the next couple of days, BUT that system will split apart and while we'll see some clouds, it should remain dry and mild. There's a system behind this one that will move into the area later Tuesday and Wednesday that will bring a little cooler weather and a chance of showers. We have a much better chance of some storminess and cooler weather the last week of the month!
Good morning! A lot of clouds are streaming into the area, but the bases on these are fairly high and the humidity values low. So, we shouldn't see any precipitation. A fairly strong low pressure is along the West Coast with most of the energy heading into the Pacific Northwest and it weakens considerably as it moves inland. In fact, that trend of systems weakening, as they move inland, will continue through the weekend. A little stronger, and cooler system is expected next Tuesday or Wednesday. For today, it's a mild 48 degrees at my house at 8 AM and we should make it well into the 60s, maybe even 70. South winds will be pretty breezy throughout the day, but shift to the west really late in the afternoon or evening. We'll be about 10 degrees cooler tomorrow!
Good morning! Well, we saw some snow in the mountains yesterday, but down here in the Snyderville Basin we had some graupel (snow pellets)! It's a cold start at my house in lower Pinebrook with 25 degrees, and 28 degrees up at the Park City Golf Course. It'll be a cool day, but lots of sunshine with the high probably in the mid 50s. A warmer southerly flow will develop tonight and tomorrow, so not nearly as cool in the morning and definitely warmer during the day. We should be pushing 70 degrees, and a couple of areas could be in the low 70s. That system you see on the satellite image below will weaken considerably as it moves inland with only a little cooler air for us. It's looking dry through the week, so all in all, not too bad a pattern for now. We need to cool things off and get some storms in here at the end of the month and November, so that we get get the ski season going in a timely manner!! Have a great Monday!
