Good morning! It's an awesome morning out there weather-wise with blue skies and cool early morning readings. The air mass has dried out and is more stable over northern Utah this morning and we should have an awesome weather pattern through the weekend and into early next week. Temperatures will be near normal with the max temperatures in the low 80s!!
Good morning, and hope you have an awesome hump day!
There were some decent thunderstorms around late yesterday with the strongest going up through the Salt Lake Valley and northward. We'll see more thunderstorms today, and again tomorrow, but we should see some dry and the air mass becoming more stable from Friday through the weekend. The amount of moisture in the atmosphere will support some heavy rain with the thunderstorms! So, get things done this morning and into early afternoon, then we should see the thunderstorms increase!
Good morning! The flow of moisture is shifting into the area, so should be a fairly active day with showers and thunderstorms! In fact, we should see considerable shower and thunderstorm activity through Thursday, but dry out on Friday and this trend will continue through the weekend! The thunderstorms will produce some gusty winds and brief heavy rain, so this will continue the trend of a fairly active monsoon season!
Good morning! The air mass is still fairly moist and unstable this morning, and there will be a scattering of thunderstorms this afternoon. I'm not going to change any of my plans, but we should see a couple in the area. A little drier and a little more stable air mass tomorrow and Monday, but I can't completely rule out an isolated thunderstorm. We'll definitely see an increase in the moisture and thunderstorms Tuesday through the end of next week. All in all, not too boring of a pattern for a weatherman!!! Have a great Saturday!
Good morning! I was a little disappointed in the lack of thunderstorms yesterday with most just to the east of us. The air mass is still a little unstable and enough moisture for a couple of thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening today and again tomorrow. We should be able to get done most anything we want outside this weekend. Our temperatures will be warming back into the mid 80s by Sunday afternoon. The moisture and the threat of thunderstorms will return later Monday through the middle of next week, so we have another period to get some much needed moisture!
Good morning!! Another potentially active weather day! A slow moving upper level low pressure will be shifting across the area will bring an increase in the upwards forcing of the air mass, along with a somewhat moist and unstable air mass already over the area, will lead to an increase in showers and thunderstorms. I even kept a chance in the afternoon tomorrow, but not quite as unstable, so not quite as many showers and thunderstorms. While we never completely get rid of the chance of thunderstorms through the weekend, they should be more isolated and I sure wouldn't change any plans. The moisture will return later Monday and Tuesday for another increase in showers and thunderstorms. All in all, I'm loving this pattern with all of these thunderstorm days!
Good morning! When the weather balloon went up this morning, it showed a moist, unstable air mass!! So, enjoy the morning, as we shouldn't have much trouble developing showers and thunderstorms this afternoon and evening. In fact, hard to imagine that the next couple of days won't be fairly active. Initially, when I started looking at the pattern this morning, it looked like we'll see a little drier air mass tomorrow, and while the coverage won't be as much as today, we'll still see some thunderstorms. Enjoy the mornings and early afternoons! I guess I'll have to take the grandkids to the park this morning! By the weekend, we should see even less thunderstorms, so we should be in decent shape for the Tour of Utah in the area.
Good morning! The showers and thunderstorms have moved into the area like expected, and we'll see more development today, and tomorrow. We gradually dry out as we get to the end of the week, but there's a chance just about every day. Our temperatures will remain below normal this week, but getting back into the upper 70s to near 80 by Friday and Saturday. I love days like these, a little cooler along with some rain!
Good morning!!! Well, yesterday behaved as it should have, but the air mass is a little more moist and unstable this morning, and this trend of increasing moisture and an more unstable air mass will continue through the afternoon and into tomorrow. You can see on the satellite image that the system is looking fairly organized, so as it moves northward, we'll see showers and thunderstorms increase. The air mass over us tomorrow is very moist, and would support some heavy rain with the thunderstorms. We should see another fairly active shower and thunderstorm day on Tuesday, but then a gradual decrease in activity Wednesday through Friday. Our temperatures will struggle to warm very much tomorrow and Tuesday with all of the cloudiness and showers, so maybe around the 70 degree mark, if we get a couple of breaks, I could see us reaching low to mid 70s on Tuesday. Have an awesome Sunday everyone!
Good morning! From time to time, I make a reference to the weather balloon data from the weather service office in Salt Lake. Below is the image from the weather balloon that went up this morning. Now, I could write a lot about things that you can derive from this data, but let me have you focus on the two solid lines black lines showing the temperature profile (on the right) and the dew point temperature (on the left). The bigger the spread between the two, the drier the air mass is, and the closer, the more moist it is! This morning, we see a significant amount of drying from 550 mb up to 300 mb and that equates from about 16,000 to 30,000 feet. So, without any moisture moving into the area, we're dry today and that's what I went on the forecast. Sunny and warm with the high temperature around 85 degrees. So, have an awesome day!! We will see an increase in moisture tomorrow afternoon, night and into Monday with some showers and thunderstorms likely and another cool day on Monday!
