Good morning! That was quite the storm system yesterday, and I ended up with around 5 inches of new snow, and there was 8 to 10 inches across the upper part of the resorts. A little break today, but you can already tell that we have one storm to deal with and its just off the West Coast. Now, there is a little cloudiness over central and western Nevada, and it'll be moving into our area this evening bringing some snow showers, but accumulations are going to be light. The main band that you see over California will move into the area tomorrow morning. The models bring another quarter to half an inch liquid, so we'll see 3 or 4 inches of snow across the Basin and another 6 to 10 inches across the upper part of the resorts. The air mass does dry slowly through the remainder of the week, and temperatures for much of the week will be colder than normal.
Good morning! A little bit of everything today, and a strong low pressure and associated cold front move across the area. Strong, gusty south winds and mild temperatures early this morning, cold front around noon with a chance of a couple of thunderstorms, then colder with a period of snow this afternoon and early evening. We could see a couple of quick inches of snow across the Basin, but heavier amounts across the upper part of the resorts, on the order of 5 to 8 inches. There's another system not far off the West Coast, that will have an impact on us later tomorrow into Tuesday. Cool and unsettled is the best way to describe the pattern!
Good morning! A little high cloudiness and some south winds will boost temperatures to near 60 degrees this afternoon, and this heating could develop a couple of thunderstorms later this afternoon or evening. As you can see from the satellite image, a fairly strong low pressure is moving into the West and the cold front will reach us later tomorrow morning and afternoon with the snow level lowering below the Snyderville Basin, and we could see 2 to as much as 4 inches of snow with 5 to 8 inches up across the upper portion of Park City and Deer Valley. Another system will move across the area on the 1st and 2nd bringing cool temperatures and a chance of snow or snow showers.
Good morning! Sorry for the couple of day break in the blogs, but I've been helping my son and daughter-in-law bring a baby boy into the family! An exciting time for sure!! Well, one system is exiting the area, and we'll get a break this afternoon through tomorrow with some south winds push our temperature up to near 60 in the Snyderville Basin. The next system will move across the area on Sunday brining more snow, then another later Monday and Tuesday. These systems will be fairly strong and we'll see a nice shot of snow with each system.
Good morning! A beautiful start to the day! Sunny skies, and we'll see a little bit of an increase in the winds and this will help boost temperatures to near the 60 degree mark in the Snyderville Basin. As you can see from the satellite image, there's a storm system just off the Pacific Northwest and this will move into Utah tomorrow and Thursday. It moves into the area in a couple of pieces with the stronger part of the storm expected to arrive tomorrow night and Thursday morning. We need the moisture, and will bring some fresh snow to the resorts! Have an awesome Tuesday!
Good morning! Hope everyone had a good weekend! As you can see on the satellite picture, we have a lot of sunshine today, and even tomorrow, but that low pressure off the West Coast will impact us Wednesday and Thursday. We'll see our temperatures in the Snyderville Basin climb into the low to mid 50s this afternoon and no kidding, 60 or the low 60s tomorrow! That comes to an end with this system moving across the area on Wednesday and Thursday with temperatures cold enough for snow and we should see a couple of inches on Wednesday and 2 to 4 inches on Thursday. The good news is that we'll see improving conditions on Friday and a pretty decent weekend! Have an awesome Monday!
Good morning! I have to confess, I didn't do the blog yesterday, because I love this March Madness tournament! Plus, it was just an awesome day and we kind of expected that, so I took the day off! We're starting off nice, and you probably didn't really notice, but a cold front moved into the area overnight. It's fairly weak and not very well organized, BUT it will generate some clouds later today and tonight and evening a little light snow. I don't expect much in the way of accumulation down here in the Snyderville Basin, but the upper part of Park City and Deer Valley could see an inch or snow to freshen up the slopes. We dry out and go back to high pressure Sunday through early next week with the next system bringing some snow to us later Wednesday and Thursday. All in all, not too bad a pattern.
Good morning!! A chilly start to the day with the low temperature at my house of 9 degrees! We should make it into the low 40s this afternoon and other than a little high cloudiness, we should be nice for the next couple of days. There will be a weak cold front that will sag southward into the area later tomorrow and Friday, but it should be dry and the front becomes stationary. We could see a couple of snow showers later Friday night and Saturday, but honestly, there's not much through early next week!
Good morning! That was an awesome cold front yesterday! Well, awesome if you want to put spring on hold and do some additional skiing! It will be a calmer day, and some sunshine, but also a chance of snow showers this afternoon. A drier and milder air mass is expected tomorrow and Thursday, but there's another cold front that will cool us down a little on Friday. This next cold front is looking pretty dry, so overall, a fairly decent weekend!
Good morning! The cold front is moving across us, as of 10 AM and we'll see strong, gusty winds through the afternoon, a much colder air mass and even a chance of a little snow. Accumulations here in the Snyderville Basin will be around an inch or less. Accumulations across the upper portion of the resort will be in the 1 to 3 inch range. We could see some snow showers tomorrow afternoon, but also some breaks through the day. Another cold front is expected later Thursday and Friday, but this one is looking dry! The bike ride yesterday was sooo nice, but it doesn't look like I'll have a chance this week with the cooler than normal temperatures and winds.
